Gingko Biloba - the Maidenhair Tree

Friends of Avery Hill Park were delighted their Family Fun Day on Saturday 26 July was a huge success. About 1,000 people turned up in glorious sunny weather for FUN! Thanks to great:
Members of the Friends, assisted by the 40th Greenwich Scouts and the Eltham Society, planted more than 400 young saplings supplied by the Woodland Trust's Community Woodland Scheme. They are alongside the new cycle path on the north western edge of the park, backing on to the former Butterfly Lane sports field. The saplings are growing well and will eventually form a mature hedgerow, further adding to the environmental habitat an landscape attraction. The species of trees are cherry, rowan, birch, dogwood and hawthorne. |
